The faculty and postgraduates at the department are involved in organizing out-reach dental care camps along with the help of the public relations department, which helps render dental health care to the people at their doorsteps. The dental college hospital and research center caters to oral health needs of a large number of patients from the surrounding 150 villages especially from low income groups, thus providing to the area, a state of the art dental facility. These services involve providing comprehensive oral health check-up, oral health treatment and referral to the specialized departments at the college for remaining basic and advanced treatment. These people are also given basic oral health education by use of live demonstrations and oral health education posters. The camp team comprises of faculty, postgraduates and interns from various speciality departments.

Free transport facility for the patients and a dental treatment at a nominal cost is provided. As a result, SGT Dental College can boast of the highest number of patients than any other private college in the NCR. India is a vast country with a population of more than one billion. There are several factors that affect the oral health of the children, adults and elderly at any point of time. Community oral health programs of our dental college hospital and research center have been designed with the basic objective of alleviating and preventing the vast amounts of oral diseases in our society. Research work to better understand the oral health behavior patterns and factors affecting oral health have been undertaken in various fields ranging from behavioural sciences to planning oral health care services for the underprivileged groups in the state of Haryana.

  • Regular oral screening surveys have been conducted through-out the year for the school children (school health program) and other people in villages and school. The systematic annual program of conducting out-reach oral health services camps have also been a limelight of the college with huge numbers of treatment procedures being conducted for the rural population. The dental camps have concentrated on oral health prevention, promotion and treatment at various places like where our dental teams of staff members, postgraduates and interns are posted. These programs also include oral health education protocols to improve the knowledge about oral health. Specific targeted approach was used to educate school children about their oral health. These kinds of activities not only confined to nearby 150 villages but also have reached to distance of 50 km to 100 km from the institute. The total number of patients screened, treated and referred back to college for advanced dental treatment in the past 1 yr has been 28,353.
